Support

A lot of organizational energy is spent in building support strategies to enable teams and projects achieve aligned goals.
Divergent performance objectives cannibalize organizational resources and effectiveness.
This type of thinking works at a systemic level.

When it comes to the individual, however, consolidating and narrowing goals can be counterproductive.
One of the challenges in leadership is learning to recognize that indirect support can directly generate performance.
Supporting a goal, with an individual, in one area will have a greater impact on goals in other areas than initial logic might think.

As a leader, supporting the entire individual will generate performance, rather than only the portion of them related to their job.
Your team will thrive when they have big goals and you actively support them.
If they do not have big goals, that would be a good place to start supporting.
