Inspiration

Every leader and team goes through periods where inspiration is low.

It can be influenced by the weather, the stagnation of projects, or even fatigue from constant firefighting.

Finding inspiration when stuck in mundanity is not a simple task.

Teams frequently resort to the trusted inspiration igniters: learning, books, conferences, or witnessing big accomplishments.
There is another pathway worth considering when trying to motivate oneself (or team) out of a rut.
Inspiration is a defined positive emotion; there are 9 others worth tapping into.

Instead of seeking to generate inspiration, consider where awe, serenity, or hope might catalyze the team.
Effective leaders are particularly attuned to leveraging hope to mobilize and influence an organization.
Leveraging hope is more than a platitude.

Hope can come from speaking to a group of high schoolers about values and leadership.
It can also come from observing someone else discover something new and meaningful.
Hope is an emotion, but like inspiration, it is a powerful catalyst for perspective change.
