Attentive
If there is one skill in which you cannot over-invest, being attentive wins.
For most leaders the impact of slowing down and noticing a little bit more far outweighs a new strategy or expertise.
That impact is compounded by the effect it has on the team around you.
You are going to miss things.
The goal is not to miss nothing, but to be attentive enough that you capture that which is subtle yet important.
You will never know what you miss, but being attentive decreases the likelihood that you are caught entirely by surprise.
Attentiveness requires energy and focus.
Coffee can help, but planning is probably more reliable.
Look in the calendar: where do you need to leverage your attentive skillset today?
