Assembly

Your mind unconsciously visualizes the end state.
When you think of coffee, you see it brewed and ready to enjoy.
The tendency of your cognition to see the end state factors into your general inability to estimate effectively or to overlook the process of getting there.

The same process occurs for developing leadership skills.
You conceive of a stronger presence, better communication, or greater decision-making in their state of completion.
These skills, like coffee, require assembly.

With a cup of coffee, the assembly steps are defined enough that you can generally estimate time to complete with conscious effort.
Leadership is more like a Lego; there are defined steps you can take, but there are also spaces for play and creation where you must experiment.
Keeping the end goal in mind is key; but allowing the time and space (and patience) for assembly is most critical.
