Additive Logic

As a leader it is challenging to not default to basic additive logic.
2 team members are better than 1, and 3 will accomplish more than 2.
Additive math is hard to break away from when resourcing roles.

This logic breaks down with projects; more projects do not mean more productivity.
The same applies to priorities; more do not lead to increased clarity.
Your brain is driven to leverage binary addition-subtraction models.

Leadership math is complex.
You are solving for hidden variables and complex correlations.
For example: removal of something might decrease gross team capacity while increasing team cohesion and eliminating constraints in such a way that net team capacity is increased.

Your brain defaults to solving problems through adding solutions and resources.
Sometimes the best addition comes through removing a barrier or drag on resources.
In leadership math, 3 - 1 can = 5.
