Witness

80% of your brain is connected to your visual cortex.
Of all your senses, your sense of sight plays the most significant role in your ability to process and retain information.
The adage, “see it to believe it,” is accurate in terms of how your brain prioritizes and processes stimuli.

The experience of witnessing something associates with a tremendous range of emotions.
The experience of being witnessed associates with a similarly diverse set of experiences.
Being witnessed presenting on stage may cause crippling fear while being witnessed demonstrating an intentionally developed skill can cause immense pride.

As a leader, the opportunity to witness your team at their best is likely one of the main reasons you do your job.
In a fast-paced environment, witnessing can turn into casual observation.

While you may track some growth, the deeper impact of witnessing/being witnessed is missed.

Take time to witness your team for where they are at, otherwise you risk your brain filling in the gaps of the narrative.
