Grip

The start of the year brings a renewed vigour.
Priorities are updated, budgets refreshed, and roadmaps…re-mapped.
The energy can be frenetic, but catching onto the momentum is easy.

As the momentum of the year picks up you find yourself holding on tighter.
Your team enters the phase of work where you feel more like you are trying to stay afloat than ride the wave.
Unconsciously, albeit understandably, you find yourself gripping onto things particularly tight.

The answer is not to just let go (although it sounds catchy).
The answer is to address the implicit gripping.
Sometimes that is as simple as noticing where you are gripping and feeling the instant reaction of releasing slightly.

As a leader, what project can you feel yourself gripping more than necessary?
How might you support your team in pausing to build the same awareness?
