Dissonance

Your brain cannot abide cognitive dissonance.
If your self understanding is built around a certain concept or belief, you will find rationale to avoid contradicting that belief.
If you think you are a fundamentally honest person, your brain will unconsciously seek to maintain that belief when interpreting reality.

This becomes tricky when your brain consolidates memories.
It will overwrite a memory with the filter of a belief in order to ensure a more consistent narrative of your reality.
In a world of AI images creating confusion around what is real we are confronted with a daunting notion: our brains unconsciously perform a very similar function to fake imagery.

This does not mean you need to question every fundamental belief about who you are as a leader and what is real.
Leave that to Neo.
It is a good reminder to build a team around you that is capable of offering different perspectives of reality.

Once that is built, make sure you listen to them.
Your brain cannot handle the dissonance of two realities.
Unfortunately it is more likely to change its remembering of what occurred before trying to shift a pattern of belief.
