Unsettled
At some point in the last week you probably thought “I cannot wait for things to settle down.”
The irony is you had the same thought the week before and every week prior since… forever.
Outside of a defined period of settling (like a vacation), the experience of settling down, when prolonged, also becomes dangerously close to stagnation.
Performance-driven teams are not magically more capable or better resourced to remain settled.
Their differentiator is that they are mentally prepared for the feeling of being unsettled.
Great leaders build the awareness of their team to recognize the discomfort of the unsettled without being consumed by it.
